The Atlanta Shakespeare Company Education Department is thrilled to announce that we will be offering Saturday Acting classes this Spring! Classes will take place in our brand-new Shakespeare Academy classroom space located right next door to the Playhouse at 497 Peachtree Street NE.

Young actors ages four through thirteen will have the chance to be taught and directed by our team of professional Teaching Artists each Saturday from February 17- March 24, 2018. Each class will culminate in a final showcase for invited friends and family members.

Shakespeare’s Groundlings--- Shakespeare Superheroes Sidekicks-style acting class for students ages 4-6

Ignite your child’s curiosity and love of Shakespeare and performing in our Groundlings class! Through creative play, arts and crafts, music, dance, and, of course, Shakespeare’s language, our youngest actors will present their own, unique version of Shakespeare’s magical A Midsummer Night’s Dream. With a script focusing on Shakespeare’s famous fairy kingdom, your child will have an engaging and interactive experience each and every Saturday. All of our Groundlings teaching artists have received specialized training in Shakespeare instruction for 4-6 year olds from the fabulous folks at San Francisco Shakespeare Festival.

Saturdays, February 17- March 24, 2018 from 9:00 a.m.- 10:30 a.m.

Shakespeare’s Clowns--- Basics of Shakespearean Acting for students ages 7-10

Your young actor will explore the three tools of an actor and learn to bring Shakespeare’s characters, language, and situations to life for an audience in this engaging and entertaining acting class in our brand-new Shakespeare Academy. Students will study and create scenes and monologues from Comedy of Errors, Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream to be performed in an exciting showcase on the final day of classes, all under the direction of a member of our professional acting company.

Saturdays, February 17- March 24, 2018 from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.

The Nobles—Basics of Shakespearean Acting for Grades 6-8

Your young actor will learn to harness their body, voice, and imagination to bring Shakespeare’s characters, language, and situations from off of the page and onto the stage in this engaging and sophisticated acting class in our brand-new Shakespeare Academy. Students will study and create scenes and monologues from Comedy of Errors, Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream to be performed in an exciting showcase on the final day of classes, all under the direction of a member of our professional acting company.

Saturdays, February 17- March 24, 2018 from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
