What is the Shakespeare Tavern®?

The Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse is unlike other theaters. It is a place out of time; a place of live music, hand-crafted period costumes, outrageous sword fights with the entire experience centered on the passion and poetry of the spoken word. With a Ready To Eat Café-Style Menu and a broad selection of Irish ales and premium brews, the Shakespeare Tavern® is a place to eat, drink, and nourish the soul. Each month brings a different play, a different experience. Read what our actors, directors and staff have to say about the work we do at The Shakespeare Tavern® on our Community Blog.. I was nervous that I just wouldn’t get it, having had a difficult time understanding the plays by Shakespeare that we read in high school. The players at the Tavern really made the play understandable which was a huge bonus.-TripAdvisor user mamasmurf9

We were walking down Peachtree Street to take a look at the historic Fox Theater and saw the Shakespeare Tavern was having a preview performance of Richard II. We got tickets and had dinner before hand. Tasty filling meal and the play was fabulous. Like being at the Globe (although they don’t try for British accents). Costuming was beautiful and the staging moved things along briskly.

After enjoying innumerable wonderful ASC productions with my (three young teenage) children over the years, we recently saw King Lear at the Globe Theatre in London. This level of interest in the Bard and in the theatrical arts in general would never have been possible without your incredible (and talented) work. Thank you for all you do.
