Intimacy for the Stage Workshops

Atlanta Shakespeare Company at the Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse presents a weekend of workshops with Intimacy Directors International.

Intimacy for the Stage for Actors and Performers

June 8, 2019

10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

And

June 9, 2019

3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

$60

We will examine IDI’s Five Pillars of Intimacy Standards and Protocol by applying them to safe and repeatable exercises. While some small moments of contact will be explored (a hug, a handshake, a touch) nothing is required. As a performer, you will be provided with tools to find chemistry quickly and safely, practice consent, learn about how to approach choreography as a performer, and find closure after performing intimate work.

Intimacy for Directors, Choreographers, and Stage Managers
June 8, 2019

3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

And

June 9, 2019

10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

$60

In the past, coercion and fear of authority were formerly methods of choreographing scenes of intimacy and sexual choreography in the performing arts. Using Intimacy Directors Internationals five pillars of safe intimacy direction as a foundation, we will explore a safer process for enthusiastically consensual intimacy choreography that keeps the entire company in constant collaborative communication, helping to prevent harassment and abuse in rehearsals, backstage, and during performances.
